The Donkeys

In late 2018, we adopted two donkeys from Peaceful Valley Donkey Rescue. The donkeys are adult females - twin sisters. We don’t know much about their history, except that they were an owner surrender to Peaceful Valley.

The team at Peaceful Valley, and their satellite adoption center in Northern Washington State, worked with the donkeys so they accepted handling, brushing, hoof care, and vet care.

They came to us VERY shy but VERY sweet. They are kind and gentle to us and the dogs, which is a big deal as many donkeys are not fans of canines. They’ve warmed up to us in the time that we’ve had them, they no longer flinch when we pet them and they’re much less skittish around our family, but they still aren’t what I’d call friendly. Donkeys live a long time, though, so we’ve got another 20 years or so to bring them around :-)
